Obituary

Zenna Irene Garrett Larrabee, 98, passed away peacefully at her home on December 21, 2022.  She was born January 11, 1924, in Walla Walla, to Wayne and Mildred Garrett.  Zenna was raised with her three younger siblings Robert, Barbara and Margie.

She attended Walla Walla High School and graduated with honors in June 1941.  Her first year at Washington State College was interrupted by the bombing of Pearl Harbor, bringing about big changes.  She met John Paul Larrabee whom she married June 24, 1942, before his deployment overseas.

In 1945, they purchased an apple orchard north of Tonasket where they lived and raised their three children.  These years were spent camping and organizing get-togethers with friends and neighbors, as well as farming.  Zenna loved making new friends and so was very active in many clubs and organizations including the Tonasket Community Church, Eastern Star, Okanogan County Choir, and Garden Club.

Zenna was preceded in death by her parents, step-parents, siblings, husband, son Jack, and son-in-law Richard.  She is survived by daughter Jill, son Mike, grandchildren David Novak and Jennifer (Gene) Lubeck, and three great-grandsons Matthew, Evan, and Haden Lubeck.

Services will be held Sunday, April 16 at 1:00 pm at the Tonasket Community Church with refreshments afterward. Memorials may be made to the Tonasket Community Church or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
