William "Billy"
Michael Mcnitt
February 26, 1960 – January 3, 2025
William M McNitt (Billy), age 64, passed away on Jan. 3, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Billy was born on Feb. 26, 1960, to William H McNitt and May L McNitt at Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville Washington. Billy was raised and lived his whole life on Vulcan Mountain Road at the McNitt Family Homestead, established by his father in 1939. He began working at a young age with his father as a logger. In 1978, Billy earned his Automotive Mechanics certification, Class A CDL with TN endorsements, Washington State Pilot Escort Vehicle Certification, Washington State Flagler Card and First Aid Card from Spokane Community College. Afterward, Billy returned to Curlew where he raised his four children and worked for multiple construction companies in the area. For the last 26 years, Billy devoted his life to helping keep the roads in the Curlew area safe for all to travel on as a member of the Ferry County Road Department, Curlew shop.
Billy was a devoted brother, father, grandpa and friend to many, whether blood-related or not. He was the person you could call for help with anything, no matter how small or big the job was. Billy was always willing to drop everything to help a neighbor, friend or even a stranger. He
was also straightforward and very blunt; you never had to wonder if he liked you are not. Despite his willingness to help others, Billy was one of the most stubborn and pigheaded people when it came to accepting help from others.
Surviving relatives include his sister, Alice Reed; Brother-in-law, Charlie Reed; sons, Michael A McNitt and Charles P McNitt; daughters, Geneil S Hill and Jaceil M Anderson; and grandchildren, Waylan Brisbane, Grace Brisbane, Elizabeth Wesley, Kaylee Anderson, Ben McNitt, Kat McNitt, Colt McNitt, Leena McNitt.
There will be a celebration of life service to be announced on a later date.
