Obituary

Thomas Edward Hickman Jr, age 68, passed away at home, outside Tonasket on December 12, 2018. He was born to Burleen and Thomas (Ed) Hickman Sr. in Weaser, Idaho on October 4, 1950.
Tom grew up in Idaho and California. He served in the US Army in Vietnam, after which he lived in California and Idaho. In the late 80's he met Leona Phillips in Payette Idaho, then moved to Riggins where they married in 1995. The two of them moved to the North Okanogan in 1996, where they have remained since.
Tom was a member of the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronisms; the Shire of Dregate and enjoyed many years of activity with them while in good health. He loved animals, horses and dogs especially. He had an interest in guns and archery, and was skillful in both.
He was known for his upbeat attitude in times of adversity, his ability to accomplish large tasks with little fuss, his gentleness and kind heart under the façade of a gruff exterior, and his love of Leona. His sense of humor was a quality we will all miss.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by a daughter, Savannah, two brothers Craig and Brad, and a sister Twana, all of Idaho, and wife Leona of Tonasket.
A celebration of Tom's life is planned for February.
