Obituary

Thomas Wayne Johnson, age 76, of Curlew, WA died February 24 th , 2021 in Colville, WA. He was born April 17 th , 1944 to parents Charles and Anne Johnson in Bellevue, WA.

Tom graduated from Kings Garden High School in Seattle in 1962. He worked in the Bremerton Shipyards until enlisting in the Navy from 1965 to 1969.Tom was a locksmith and watch repairman. While in the Navy, he purchased land in Danville, WA. He met his future wife Sherry Singer there in the spring of 1969.

Tom and Sherry were married June 23, 1973 at the Malo Grange Hall. They purchased property on Toroda Creek and have lived there all of their married lives. They raised their sons David and Gary there. They raised cattle and hay on the small ranch. Tom also worked in logging, mining, core drilling, driving truck, breaking and training horses, leatherwork, making and repairing saddles, and working cattle for neighbors. Tom did whatever it took to pay the bills. He also had an explosives business and did blasting for his customers. Between 1993 and 2016, Tom worked for Echo Bay Minerals as a geologist until retirement. Tom always told Sherry this job was for her, and it was the only job he ever held after the Navy where he worked 12 moths of the year steady.

He was a member of the Washington Cattleman's Association and 4-H.

Tom is survived by his wife Sherry of 47 years, sons David (Kate) of Fairbanks and Gary (Christine) of Curlew, grandchildren: Peter, Jessica, Bryan, and Derik all of Fairbanks, and his brother Jim (Rene) of Moses Lake.

A graveside service will be held at the Republic Cemetery with Roger Thiele officiating.
