Suzanne "Suzie"
Mary Castelda
October 1, 1945 – April 26, 2026
Suzanne "Suzie" Mary Castelda, 80, of Tonasket, Washington, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026. She was born on October 1, 1945, in Tonasket to Florence (née Helm) and Neal Keithley. In 1968, she married Roger Castelda and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Suzie was a graduate from Tonasket High School class of 1963. She was the first in her family to attend college, an accomplishment that remained a source of pride for her and her parents when she graduated Wenatchee Valley College of Nursing in 1968. She dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a cardiac care nurse in West Seattle, Spokane, and Auburn, before returning to Tonasket to work at the very hospital where she had been born — a meaningful reflection of her lifelong commitment to service. Once Suzie retired from nursing, she volunteered at CareNet. She was also an active member of Junior Women, Tonasket PTA, and the Civic League.
Her faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life and the guiding light in all she did. Suzie found great joy in God's creation, especially while gardening, hiking the Okanogan Highlands near her grandparents' homestead in Havillah, searching for wildflowers in the spring, and admiring the changing colors of autumn. She loved the water and cherished her time swimming and water skiing on Lake Osoyoos, where she later taught her three children to ski in the very same place she learned.
Suzie was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Neal Keithley; her step-father, Jim Kernan; her brother Neal "Mick" Keithley; and her sister Pamela (née Keithley) Newsome. She is survived by her husband, Roger; son Anthony Castelda; daughter Shannon Castelda and her husband, Travis Bradford, along with their children Italia, Adria, and Kinring; and son EnRico Castelda and his wife, Anna, along with their children Luna, Ezio, and Croix.
Suzie will be remembered for her deep faith, her compassionate heart, and the love she gave so freely to her family and those around her. Her legacy will continue in the lives she touched and the family she cherished. Suzie has gone home to be with Jesus. She has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23).
Services were held privately by the family.
