Royce Clare Grimm age 60 of Republic died on Friday, August 7, 2015 at home in Republic. He was born in Tonasket on March 2, 1955 to Parents Roy and Claire Jean Grimm. Royce was raised in Republic, graduating from Republic High School in 1973. He was a catcher on the Little League baseball team and played basketball on the first five team in Junior high and the team won the district trophy for the first time in 19 years. At sixteen, he began high school rodeo, riding bareback and a few saddle broncs. He was employed by Morris Chevrolet where he then attended GMC School in Tigard, Oregon. Later, Royce got his mechanic certification for GMC. In 1975, he wanted to do something different, so he went to work in the woods running skidder, then driving logging truck for a short time. He moved to Craig, Colorado for a couple of years and then returned to Republic. Having watched his uncle shoe horses for many years, he went to horseshoeing school in Oklahoma, returning to Republic to shoe horses. He spent one winter in Portland, Oregon at the racetrack. Purchasing a dozer in 1994, he logged, built roads, etc., and has since had a small mechanic shop at his home.
He bucked bales of hay to buy his first rifle. He was an avid hunter spending deer season at hunting camp and loved to fish with his buddies, Ray and Howard
Royce was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles
He is survived by his mother, Jean Grimm, sisters Lynn (Ken) Beck, Denece (Doug) Ralston, and Denene (Sonny) Douglas. Nephews Gerry (Katy) Bremner, Jud (Alissa) Ralston, nieces Jaki (Kyle) Polich, Jolene (Kelly) Hoburg, Lacey Ralston and six great nephews and nieces.
Royce was preceded in death by his father, Roy Grimm.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 11:00 AM at the Bergh Funeral Chapel in Republic with Donna Beal officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Republic Eagles.
