Obituary

Robert C. "Bob" Hirst, 90, of Oroville, Washington, passed away on September 5, 2016 at North Valley Extended Care. Bob was born on November 18, 1925 in Molson, Washington, the son of Richard C. "Bud" Hirst and Orpha Mae (Walker) Hirst.

Bob was raised in the Molson/Chesaw area of Okanogan County with 13 Brothers and
sisters. He served in the United States Navy in World War II, on the Isle of Hawaii and Adak Island, Alaska.

After the War, he returned home, graduating from Molson high School in 1949.

Bob was a Funeral Director in Coulee Dam for a period. He took pride in assisting with the customs and traditions of Native American funerals. He was also a local businessman for many years and owned several businesses within The Okanogan and Spokane Counties. He served his community as an Okanogan County Commissioner in the 1980s, and was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Tonasket prior to its merge with the Aurora Lodge in Oroville. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and the El Katif Shrine. He was 1997 Oroville Citizen Of the year and 2003 Oroville Businessman of the year. He was an over 60 year member of the Tonasket American Legion Post. Bob was a hunter and loved fishing the lakes and streams of the beautiful Okanogan County.

Bob was the last of 14 siblings and is survived by his wife Margaret of Oroville, Daughters Karen Hirst of Spokane, and Jody (Nick) Michel of Tonasket. Sons Ron (Bonnie) Hirst of Tonasket, Mark (Louise) Hirst of Pensacola, Florida and Randy (Moira) Hirst of Tonasket. He is also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He was dearly loved And will be missed.

A service will be held for Bob at 2pm Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Oroville United Methodist Church, 908 Fir Street, Oroville, Washington, with Pastor Leon Alden and the Oroville Aurora Masonic Lodge officiating. A Luncheon will follow at the church.

In Lieu of Flowers, the Family has suggested donations be made to the Tonasket Community Pool Project and/or The North Valley Extended Care Activities Department.
