Obituary

Patricia Ann (Libengood) Pyper, 93, of Tonasket, Washington, formerly of Yakima, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 29, 2026, and went to be with her Lord.

Patricia was born on May 15, 1933, in Wayne, Nebraska, to W. Lawrence and Garnet Libengood. She grew up in Yakima, graduating from Yakima High School in 1951. In 1967, she married William “Bill” Pyper, and together they moved their family to Tonasket, where they raised four children on their family apple orchard and operated a honey and beekeeping business.

During her 59 years in Tonasket, Patricia worked in apple packing sheds, as a clerk and merchandise buyer at a local clothing store, and later at the hospital. Through her work and community involvement, she developed many cherished, lifelong friendships.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Patricia’s greatest joys were her family and her faith. Her kindness, loving heart, and faithful prayers will be remembered by all who knew her.

Patricia was a longtime member of the Church of the Brethren in Ellisforde, where she faithfully served her church in many areas, including teaching Sunday school. She gave happily to her community volunteering her time to the Headstart Pre-School program, the Tonasket Food Bank and as a Hospice volunteer as well.

Patricia is survived by her children: Brian (Julie) Pyper, Deanna (Ronald) Pearce, Jeffery (Kimberly) Pyper, and Shawn Brazil. Grandchildren: Nicole (Callum) Cox, Todd Pyper (Rachel Jensen), Jared Pyper (Veronica Escoto), Matthew (Mysti) Pyper, Jocelyn (Aaron) Applewhite, Emily (Nicholas) Spring, Levi (Heather) Pyper, and Matthias Brazil. Great-Grandchildren: 25 great-grandchildren that she bestowed love upon each one. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
