Patricia Joan
Ormiston
June 21, 1942 – March 23, 2023
Precious Pat Ormiston went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2023. She was born Patricia Joan Purdy, June 21, 1942, in Port Orchard, Washington to George and Ann Purdy. She and her sisters grew up there and Pat loved life from the start. At eighteen years old Pat married and had her two children Kristina and Eric. She spent a few years in Germany as an army wife with 3-month-old Kristina. Sometime after Eric was born and she was divorced, Pat and the children moved to Bellingham where Pat worked as a Secretary in the FBI. Soon Pat reunited with a high school friend, Gary Ormiston. Pat had gone to his home and saw one closet filled with dirty clothes and another closet filled with unfolded clean clothes and said, "He needed help!" Gary had three children, Tab, Jeff and Patti. In 1966 after falling in love with each other, Pat and Gary married and blended and raised their five children in Port Orchard and began their journey of love with each other, their family and with Malamute dogs. They named their dog kennel Orm's Dorm and had up to 14 dogs. Realizing their dream of dog sledding they bought 40 acres, built a log house in Republic and moved their family here in 1973. Pat and Gary hosted dog sled races beginning from 1978-1980. It was very important to Pat to spend quality time with her family. Once the children left home, Pat and Gary stopped the sledding but kept their hand in outdoor activities with their favorites, being skiing, camping in their many R.V.'s, boating, hiking, cross country skiing , with Pat's favorite being huckleberry picking . In 1982 Pat and Gary were led to go to a Billy Graham Crusade, where they gave their lives to Jesus Christ and that is where their lifelong ministry began. They lived and served by faith. They believed in healing especially through Hallelujah Acres and showing the love of Christ. Their lives were transformed and they began the rest of their life journey serving the Lord. They went to Mexico to rebuild a village, were missionaries with a group called "Sowers" which took them to Colorado and California in their motorhome deemed, "servants on wheels ever-ready," to build homes and whatever projects the Lord led them to do for others. In Ferry County for many years, they drove the Job Corps students to church and they attended and served in their church, Lakeview. Even up to a year ago Pat and Kristina would go to Bloomsday and Pat made it a mission to share the love of Christ to everyone they spoke to including telling the officers that they were loved. These times were precious moments for her and Kristina as they laughed often together.
After 38 years in their beloved log home, they built their next home in Curlew Kai which was Pat's final resting place here before going to her eternal home.
Pat was affectionately known as Lily Belle to her husband Gary, was an excellent mother and loving wife and was a devoted woman of God. She was tenacious, talkative, bold, determined, persistent and loving. Pat is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Gary, and their children Tab, Jeff, Kristina, Patti and Eric and her 3 sisters Diann, Georgia and Sally along with 10 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. Pat will be viewed at 1 P.M. and memorialized at the Lakeview Church on Saturday April 29 at 2 P.M. Interment will follow at the Republic Cemetery.
