Patricia J. Key December 21, 1937 - May 15, 2018 East Wenatchee, WA Pat was born to Bill and Marie Barnes on December 21, 1937, and the family settled in the Okanogan Valley. As a child, Pat cherished and often talked about her summer visits (taking the train all by herself) to Oroville, WA, to stay with her grandmother, Carrie, and she often talked about the times she spent at the cabin in Tonasket, WA, together with relatives and friends! Pat also cherished the time she shared with her younger brother, Lance, and her sister, Kathy. She attended Okanogan High School (Go Bulldogs!) where she made many friendships that lasted her lifetime! After high school, Pat attended Eastern Washington University, where again, she formed lifelong bonds with her college sisters. Pat then ventured to California to attend acting school at the Pasadena Playhouse. However, rumor has it, she missed her high school/college sweetheart so much that she returned, and she and Dennis Key married on September 30, 1960, in Seattle, WA. They planted their permanent roots in East Wenatchee, WA, where they raised three children with as much love, dancing, music, and laughter as possible, and enjoyed countless hours of fun with their grandchildren. In the summers, Pat sometimes worked at Northern Fruit and often told work stories that were filled with laughter. Pat was blessed with creativity, an amazing sense of humor, and a big heart. Her passions were music, dancing, acting, playing jokes on loved ones, and skit and reunion planning. All of her qualities led to a lifetime of love, great friendships, and fun times that will always remain in our memories and our hearts! Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Key, in 2008; grandson, Mia Key, in 2008; and sister, Kathy Mularsky, in 2012. She is survived by daughter, Shelly Key, and her husband, Ike, of Leavenworth, WA, granddaughter, Brie Shapiro, and her husband, Dorian, of Seattle, WA, grandson, Cassidy Darlington, and his son and her only great grandchild, Wyatt, of East Wenatchee, WA; daughter, Carrie Prater and her husband, Reed, of Seabeck, WA, and grandkids, Afton and Logan Prater, of Seabeck, WA; son, Sam Key of Wenatchee, WA, and grandson, James Barton; brother, Lance Barnes, and his wife, Julie, of Spokane, WA; brother in-law, Anton Mularsky of Otis Orchards, WA; son-in-law, Lloyd Darlington; sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Denton, Malott, and Sharon Pursel, all of Whidbey Island, WA. Pat held her many nieces, nephews, and cousins very close to her heart! A Graveside Service will be held on June 1, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., in Okanogan, WA, and a Celebration of Pat's Life will immediately follow at the Eagles in Okanogan.
