Obituary

Olive Venitta Sullivan, passed away peacefully December 1, 2016. She was born September 6, 1934, in St Helens, Oregon to Joseph and Mary (Marcott) Michell, the second of three children, Venitta graduated from Scappose High School in 1952, and began work in a jewelers store in Portland, Oregon. John and Venitta were joined in marriage May 7, 1955, in Scappose, Oregon, lovingly raising three children and proudly farmed and ranched for the following 60+ years.
With a young family, they moved "Lock, stock, and barrel", and 20 head of Holstein dairy cows to Eltopia, Washington in February 1962. During the early years of the Columbia Basin, a farm unit was purchased and took out of sagebrush near Basin City, WA. During the time of raising their family, Venitta proudly worked alongside her husband John on the farm or ranch while keeping the home, gardening, canning and freezing everything she could put her hands on. She especially enjoyed sewing, crocheting and mostly quilting. In 1989, Venitta permanently moved to Tonasket with John and continued ranching until John's death August 2016. Venitta is a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Tonasket, WA.
Venitta was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, parents, infant son Gregory and brother Joseph Michell. Venitta is survived by her children; Colleen (Steve) Tibbs of Oroville, WA; Walt (Debra) Sullivan of Stanfield, Oregon; and Brenda (Cody) Ames of Tonasket, WA; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, Sister Jacqueline Michell of Independence, Missouri and sister-in-law Phyllis Michell of Warren, Oregon.
Services will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 103 S, Whitcomb Ave, Tonasket, WA. Rosary will be prayed 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2016 with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10:00 a.m. Internment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, 29851 Hwy 97, Riverside, Washington.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Tonasket, Washington.
