Obituary

Nora Louise (Johnson) Hilderbrand May 26, 1932 – July 19, 2022 Nora was born in Republic, Washington to parents Alfred and Tina (Bremner) Johnson. Her first job was operating the popcorn machine at the Selma Theater in Republic. In high school, Nora was active in basketball, baseball, school paper and was Prom Queen and Miss Republic in the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival parade. She graduated from Republic High School in May, 1950. On June 17, 1950, she married Lewis Hilderbrand, and they moved to Grand Coulee. For a time, Lewis farmed with his dad, near Monse, Washington. From there they moved to Spokane where Lewis was employed at St. John's Cathedral. After Lewis passed away, Nora came to live with her sister (and best friend), Kathryn in Republic. Nora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis; son, Randy; sister, Betty and brothers Leslie, Gilbert, Keith and Larry. She leaves behind her son, Ron; his wife, Melody; sister, Kathryn Almquist and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and Kathryn's grandchildren. She was a special Aunt to all. Graveside services will be held at the Republic Cemetery on Friday, July 29 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Republic Cemetery Association, PO Box 451, Republic, WA 99166.
