Obituary

Michael Scott Reaveley passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2021, at his home in Republic, Washington. He was 58 years old.

Mike was born in Salinas California on February 13, 1963, to Elmer Max Reaveley and Carol DeRuiter. The family later moved to Phinney Ridge in Seattle, near the Woodland Park Zoo to raise their kids.

Mike attended grade school in Ballard and at the age of 16, he earned his GED and went on to work in a number of different industries. A couple of years later, he would marry Abigail (Abby) Linden and they would welcome Joshua Reaveley on March 23, 1981. After their divorce, Michael would later meet Judith Ann Byce and in 1986, not only would they tie-the-knot, but they would also welcome twins Nicholas Scott Reaveley and Sarah Victoria Reaveley. One of Michael's greatest aspirations in life was to be a father and early in their marriage, Mike and Judy would decide that it made more sense for him to be a stay-at-home dad before it became a thing for men to do while she continued to work and build her professional career. The family would later move to Camano Island to raise their kids. In 2005, they retired and moved to Republic, Washington. It was here that they finally had the opportunity to live up on the mountain and in their own little cabin in the woods. Over the course of the next 15 years, that cabin would become what is now the R (Reaveley) Ranch; it was his passion, his hobby, and his paradise. Michael was an avid outdoorsman, he was well-known for his "green" thumb, and as a crafty handyman, he could fix just about anything. He loved to hunt, fish, garden, and ranch. He also really enjoyed old western films, country music, motorcycles, and a good Sour Mash or Canadian Whiskey. Like Clint Eastwood's William Munny in Unforgiven, he too was a man of notoriously vicious and intemperate disposition. Even so, he was greatly adored and admired by those who knew him. He was a lifetime member of the NRA as well as The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. His friends and family were always incredibly important to him, and the family would often spend their summer vacations on the road, taking trips to visit them.

Mike and Judy were married for almost 35 years before she preceded him in death in early December 2020 and we can only hope that now he has found his way back to her. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents: Elmer, Maxine, Norma, June and Sal, his uncle Roger, aunt Martha, his mother Carol, and his first wife Abby. Mike is survived by his father Max and his wife Susan, his three brothers: Sean, Randall (Randy), and William (Bill) as well as his sister Danielle and her father Dan (Danny) Holliday. The family recognizes the impact of this loss for all of those who knew him, and they would like to extend their deepest condolences and a heartfelt appreciation for all of the love and support that is currently being provided to and for them at this time. There is currently no memorial service scheduled but the family does intend to welcome their friends and family to the ranch later this summer to celebrate the lives of both Michael and Judith Reaveley. They will be and are greatly missed. Memorials and donations can be made directly to the family or through the Bergh Funeral Service.
