Obituary

Marilyn (Hart) Shew, born July 18, 1943, was called to Eternal Life at home surrounded by family on March 28, 2024. Marilyn was born in Windsor, CO, attending elementary and high school in Johnston, CO and met the love of her life (Norbie) while working as a cosmetologist in Denver, CO. Marilyn and Norbie celebrated almost 60 years of marriage, living in Trinidad, CO for the majority of that time.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Helen (Weinmeister) and David Hart, in-laws James and Joanna (Veltri) Shew, sister-in-law & brother-in-law Marie (Shew) and Florie Massarotti. She is survived by her husband, Norbie Shew, daughter & son-in-law Kellie (Shew) and James Jex, grandsons Christian, Keegan and Gavin, brother and sister-in-law Robert (Shirley) Hart, three God-children, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends like family.

Marilyn made (and often delivered) food and goodies to share with family and friends ... with her holiday dinners always being a special event! She willingly would take on any task to help out with Southern Colorado Dairy. Marilyn was an advocate for Organ Donor Organizations. She was often referred to as "The Bionic Woman" and received multiple medical miracles over the past 40 years. Marilyn had a passion and dedication working with youth. From baby-sitting, working in Holy Trinity/Trinidad Catholic cafeteria and being employed as a librarian for School District #1 for 25 years, she touched the lives of many children with relationships that lasted into their adulthood. Marilyn beamed when called "Grammie" by her three grandsons. . . being a part of their daily lives over the past three years was the perfect culmination of her true love and gift for children!

A funeral mass will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Tonasket, WA. A celebration with family and friends in Trinidad, CO is pending for the last weekend in June 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
