Obituary

Lawrence (Larry) Edwin Swallom age 99 passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at North Valley extended care in Tonasket. He was born August 29, 1912 in Arriba, Colorado to parents Joseph Edward and Lula Vida (Dilly) Swallom. In 1929, he moved with his parents to Omak where he worked in the fruit industry and at Biles-Coleman Lumber Co., before moving to California where he worked at a service station. Larry joined the National Guard and in 1940 enlisted in the U.S. Army. He met his future bride, Lenora (Lorraine) Clark at a servicemen's club in Salinas, Kansas in 1944 and in September of 1944 they were married in Topeka, Kansas. Together they moved to Omak in the winter of 1945 and purchased a house on Salmon Creek that they tore down and moved to Nichols Road in Omak and rebuilt across the street from his parent's home. Over the years, Larry worked at Blackwell's in Okanogan, as a parts manager for Okanogan County, at Omak Auto Parts, and as a custodian for both Omak and Okanogan Presbyterian Churches as well as owning and operating an apple orchard. Larry was a member of the Omak Presbyterian Church.

1 Daughter: Ramona Kelley of Yucaipa, CA

11 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews

Larry was preceded in death by: his parents and 2 brothers and 2 sisters

SERVICES

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 10:00 AM at the Omak Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to North Valley Hospital/Extended Care Foundation, 22 W. First Street, Tonasket, WA 98855.
