Laurie R. Penney, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family and community on April 20, 2026 at 8:37 AM, in Tonasket, WA. Laurie was born on March 23, 1957, in Waterloo, IA, to Allen Hoovler and Donna "Ibby" Ceasar. During her elementary school years, she moved to Kent, WA, where she formed a lifelong bond with her best friend, Shelly, in the first grade. A proud 1975 graduate of Kent Meridian High School, Laurie continued her education at Green River Community College.
In a beautiful twist of fate, Laurie's future began to take shape during a trip to Campbell, CA, to visit her close friend and eventual step-sister - Susan. While at a local skating rink, she met the love of her life, Bobby G. Penney Jr. Their connection was undeniable; Bobby gave her a promise ring on her birthday in 1976, and the two were united in marriage on September 11, 1976. They shared nearly 50 years of unwavering devotion. In 1987, the Penneys moved to Orting, WA, to raise their four children. Laurie's faith was the cornerstone of her life. Through her quiet strength and persistent prayers, she led her husband to the Lord. They were both born again on November 15, 1990, and scripturally baptized together on December 16, 1990, at Orting Community Baptist Church. In 2001, they relocated to Tonasket and became dedicated members of the Loomis Community Church. Laurie was a woman of many talents, including; serving faithfully in women's ministries; an avid enthusiast of crocheting, sewing, and various crafts. Above all, her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Laurie is survived by her husband, Bobby G.
