Cash was born in Townsend, Montana, to Ira and Lessie Merritt. He was the youngest of seven children.

Cash moved to Republic, Washington, in the early 1940s and it has always been home.

He married Karen Rochelle in 1955 and they had five children.

Cash bought a logging truck and ran a successful business for over 50 years, at one point running a fleet of seven trucks.

Cash married Roxane Hirst on June 27, 1970.

He had a passion for racing. If it had wheels or a motor, he wanted to race it!

Cash is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, four brothers and his son, Ron. He is survived by his wife, Roxane, his children Celeste (Monte) Burbank, Kathleen (Bill) Svederus, Dan Merritt and Margaret Merritt and stepchildren Jay (Roxann) Hirst, Dan (Patty) Hirst, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A Rosary service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Republic on May 20, 2021 at 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the same location.

Cash will be laid to rest in the beautiful Republic cemetery, a place he frequently visited.
