Irene Marie Hilderbrant, a lifetime resident of Ferry County, passed away Saturday April 29, 2017 of cancer.
Irene was born on May 1, 1942 in Republic Washington to Mickey and Rosalie Dunn. She graduated from Curlew High School in 1960.
Irene married her husband Leonard on
October 20, 1962. They had two children, Sandy and Leonard Jr. Hilderbrant.
Irene lived most of her life in Republic where she was actively involved in Jr. Rodeo with her children as well as a Lucky Horseshoe 4-H leader for over 10 years. She was also very active in the Ferry Co Fair helping in the horse barns as well as various other 4-H activities. Irene was a proud and avid Republic High School sports fan supporting all of the activities her children participated in, from volleyball & basketball to baseball.
Some of the hobbies Irene enjoyed were horseback riding, snowmobiling, boating, sewing, card making, and scrapbooking. But more than anything, she loved spending time outdoors with
her horses.
She is survived by: Her husband Leonard; daughter Sandy Hilderbrant, Spokane; son Leonard "PeeWee" Jr., Republic; granddaughter Cassandra Hilderbrant, Republic; Sister, Joanie Belcher, Chelan; brothers, Mike (Joyce) Dunn, Republic, and Pat (Becky)Dunn, Billings; she was a loving auntie to her nieces and nephews and their children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. The Bergh Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
There will be a service honoring her life on Saturday May 6th at 1:00pm in the Republic Elementary Gymnasium. Following the service there will be a food and fellowship reception to celebrate Irene's life.
