Irene Merrill
Bergh Robinson
February 13, 1921 – September 19, 2021
Irene Merrill Bergh Robinson, age 100, of Tonasket, WA, died at home on September 19, 2021.
Irene was born in Stacyville, Iowa, to parents Charles and Goldie Hanson. She lived in that area until graduating from Osage Iowa High School. She then moved to Bend, OR, where she met her first husband Knute Bergh, a pilot, who later died in a plane crash in Alaska. The couple had three children.
After Knute's death, Irene and her children moved to Tonasket, WA, in 1955. Irene purchased and managed an Apple Orchard along with her second husband Leland Robinson, until their retirement. They loved living in the Okanogan Valley where they enjoyed all that it has to offer, especially fishing and camping. Irene was an avid bridge player in both, Oroville and Tonasket bridge clubs, and was also a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church.
Irene is survived by her husband; Leland G. Robinson, children; Roger S. (Carol) Bergh, Robert B. (Robin) Bergh, brothers; Robert Hanson, Jim (Mary Ann) Hanson, Larry (Shirley) Hanson, grandchildren; Stephanie (Keith) Dammann, Michael (Naomi) Bergh, Anna Bergh, Erik Bergh, and great grandchildren; Cecilia Hopes, Michael Bergh Jr., Mackenzie Bergh, Luke Dammann, and Ava Dammann.
A memorial service was held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Trinity Episcopal Church; 604 Central Ave., Oroville, WA, at 2:00 PM. The service was officiated by Reverend Marilyn Wilder.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Trinity Episcopal Church; P.O. Box 1270, Oroville, WA, 98844, or to a charity of your choice.
