Ida Lucille Farrens went to her lord November 17, 2011 at age 93. She was born at home near Molson on December 27, 1917 to Fred and Laura (Fletcher) Dimmitt. Ida was the eighth of nine children,
Ida had many happy memories of growing up and going to school in Molson.
She graduated from Molson High School at the top of her class.
Ida met and was courted by the love of her life, Vernon F. (Bud) Farrens. They married on March 13, 1944. Ida and Bud owned and operated an orchard north of Tonasket on County Road 7. They had two children, Vernon Alan Farrens and Anita Louise (Farrens) McCormick. In addition to helping with orchard work and bookkeeping, Ida also worked at a Tonasket packing shed, sorting and packing apples.
Ida lost her beloved Bud in August, 1964. She continued running the orchard until she sold it and moved into Tonasket. Ida thoroughly loved her children and her family and spent many a happy hour creating scrapbook of family history to live on after she passed. Ida enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and embroidering. She always looked forward to and enjoyed every family picnic when the Dimmitt and Fletcher clan met yearly at Lost Lake. Ida enjoyed fishing and went as often as she could. She was an old fashioned country lady who loved, worked and played with all her heart.
Ida is survived by her son, Alan Farrens and wife Marlene of Okanogan; and daughter Anita McCormick and her husband Calvin of Post Falls, Idaho.
She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Mike Farrens, Okanogan; Kristina McIntosh and husband Ryan, Okanogan; Shannon McCormick, Boise; and Tracy McCormick, Dallas, Texas; and one great grandchild Ryder McIntosh of Okanogan.
She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Forest Farrens, her parents Fred and Laura Dimmitt, and her brothers and sisters, Alvin Dimmitt, Laura Sumner, Gladys Morris, Opal Quigg, Erma McGuire, Myrtle Huggins, Agnes Willsey, and Little Fred Dimmitt.
Ida has requested no funeral but a graveside service will be held on November 26 th at 11:00 AM at the Tonasket Cemetery. A luncheon/potluck will follow at the Tonasket Community Church.
