Grace Mae Cromwell (DeBock), age 96, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, in Spokane, Washington. Born in Euclid, Washington to Gustave (Frank) and Mabel DeBock on November 7th, 1928. She spent her younger years living on a small farm in Outlook, WA. She married Ward Cromwell on October 22nd, 1945, at the Church of the Brethren in Outlook, WA. Together they built a family that would grow to include 11 children, she had many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survived by four daughters: Barbara (Bob)Dempsey of Spanaway, Washington; Dianne Dempsey of Spokane, Washington; Adele Birdwell of Spokane, Washington; and Laura Birdwell of Worland, Wyoming. Four sons: Ward (Laurie) Cromwell of Republic, Washington, Monte (Karen) Cromwell of Florence, Oregon. Brett (Kristy) Cromwell of Republic, Washington; and Kim (Debbie) Cromwell of Chattaroy, Washington. Connie Bates (stepdaughter) of Oregon, Dixie Vining (daughter-in-law) of Ryderwood, Washington; as well as many grandchildren and great- grandchildren who brought joy to her later years.

Grace is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ward Cromwell; sons Dennis Cromwell; Glenn Cromwell; and William Vining (stepson); daughter Dawn Cromwell; grandsons Dennis Cromwell Jr; John Dempsey; Monte Cromwell Jr; great-granddaughter

A gifted artist with a passion for expression in many forms, Grace found joy in painting with oil paints, watercolors, charcoal, and chalk. Her creativity extended into writing poems and stories. Grace remained active into her late seventies. Participating in the Gold Rush Run 3.7k
(2.3 miles). She had a deep love for the outdoors and spent countless hours hiking the scenic trails of Ferry County. Among all the paths she explored, Mount Elizabeth held a special place in her heart.

A Funeral Service will be held on July 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM at Church of the Nazarene 421 E. 6th Street, Republic, WA. Burial will follow at the Republic Cemetery.
