George "Ogre" Swank 62 of Republic died on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at his home in Republic. He was born on December 7, 1950 in Akron, Ohio to parents Thomas and Evelyn Swank. George grew up in Ohio. He attended college at Ohio State University where he played football. Following college, he moved to Cripple Creek, Colorado, where he began his mining career. In 1979, he married Vonnie Barron in Cripple Creek. Following his work, the family lived in different states until moving to Republic in 1989. George worked for Echo Bay Minerals, a job he held until the time of his death. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family

George is survived by:

2 Daughters: Jenniffer Sykes of Spokane and Heather Swank of Spokane

2 Sons: Tommy Swank of Malo and Ryan Swank of Republic

Four Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Tom

A gathering of family and friends with a potluck luncheon will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 1:00 PM at the Ferry County Fairgrounds.
