Uncle Fred was born in Republic to Alex and Jesse Bremner. He grew up on a local ranch as the youngest of five children. He graduated from Republic High School. Uncle Fred was a member of the Colville Confederated Tribe and a U.S. Navy Veteran.

After attending Kinman Business University in Spokane he returned to Republic and worked for the U.S. Agriculture Department. He then worked in the office of the Ferry County Treasurer. After that he worked as the manager at the Republic Hospital until he joined the U.S. Navy. He became a Navy corpsman. His last 18 months he was assigned to the Marine Corps spending 14 months in Japan. After his discharge he became a member of the Naval Reserves.

On returning to Republic, he again worked for the Agriculture Department, then three years for the U.S. Forest Service. He assisted in surgeries at the Republic Hospital. All of his nieces and nephews were blessed to have such a wonderful and caring Uncle. He was there to make us laugh, applaud our triumphs, and join in our celebrations. He held our hands and comforted us in our sorrows. Uncle Fred was a constant in our lives, the glue that held our family together. Our hearts are broken but our lives have been enriched by the memories he leaves behind.
