Eleanor Gail
Knorr
August 20, 1934 – January 11, 2026
Eleanor Gail Franzman Knorr passed away peacefully on the evening of January 11th, 2026, at North Valley Hospital in Tonasket. She was 91 years old.
On August 20, 1934, Gail was born to parents Alberta and Pete Franzman, in Scott City, KS. She grew up living on the "hill" (aprox. 3ft above the surrounding area) in Leota, KS.
Gail survived polio at the age of three, which left her with a "little foot". She soon had two younger brothers following her around. During this time her parents hired a local girl named Tillie to help Alberta with the kids and house. Tillie quickly became their "other mother," and stayed with them until she married in 1943, but was a much loved part of their lives until her death in 2012.
Around 1948, Gail's family moved to Colorado where she attended high school, and later went to Colorado Women's College. She studied Home Ec, but graduated early with an "Mrs." degree, becoming the wife of William (Bill) Knorr on June 27, 1954. Her wedding dress was one of her final college projects. She spent several years as an Air Force wife before their growing family moved to Colorado to work on Bill's family's ranch. Shortly after moving to Colorado, Gail and Bill's first child, Janet Anne, passed away due to complications with Cystic Fibrosis. They later went on to have two healthy happy children, Kerry and Holly.
In 1974, Bill & Gail moved to Loomis, WA, where she worked as a bookkeeper for their ranch. When Bill retired from ranching, they moved to Grand Coulee, WA, where she was a bookkeeper for All American Spacer Co.
Throughout her life she was an active member of the Washington State Cattlewomen's club and the Christian Women's club, and loved to work in her local church. In Grand Coulee she would paint and decorate beautiful calendars every month that were full of church events, and in Loomis she was in charge of sending out cards for many years.
Gail is survived by her daughter, Holly (Jim) Barnes, granddaughter LeighAnne Barnes, and sister-in-law Barbara Franzman. She is preceded in death by her parents Alberta & Pete Franzman, husband, William Craig Knorr, brothers, Seth and Rex Franzman, daughter Janet Anne Knorr, and son Kerry Wm. Knorr.
There will be a memorial service at Loomis Community Church, on January 31, 2026, at 1pm. We plan to livestream on the Loomis Community Church's page Facebook page for those who are unable to attend in person. Memorials can be made to the Loomis Community Church.
