Obituary

Edith Elanor Holmes (Scott) was born to parents Frank and Kathryn
Scott at the family farm in Harrington, Washington on March 2, 1919.

She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Harrington for 12 years, upon graduation she attended Seattle Pacific College and graduated with a degree in Math and Science. While attending S.P.C. she met Stuart Holmes. After her graduation, she married Stuart in a beautiful yard wedding on the farm in Harrington on August 17, 1940. Edith worked in Seattle at the Naval Accounting Agency. When Stuart was sent overseas in the U.S. Navy she returned home to help on the farm. Upon Stuart's discharge from the Navy they moved to Spokane while Stuart took refresher classes at Deaconess Hospital. Upon completion, they moved to Oroville and started their medical practice and lived in Oroville ever since. Dr. Stuart Holmes preceded her in death on September 12, 1993. Edith continued to live in the house that they built until her passing on November 5, 2013.

Edith was a very busy person. She was very active in her church, where she taught Sunday school to the little ones and to the eldest ones. She was an avid gardener; just driving by her home was proof of this. Edith was a photographer and loved to travel the hills and take pictures. Edith and Stuart made their own Christmas cards from pictures they took on some of their trips in our area. Edith also enjoyed going huckleberry picking up to her last years of life.

Edith is survived by several Nieces and Nephews

She was preceded in death by her brothers; Arthur, Steve, and Charles Scott and sisters; Kathryn Kogle and Frances Anderson

Services will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013 2:00 PM at the Free Methodist Church in Oroville with Pastors John Jenkins and Rod Brown, Officiating. Interment will follow at the Oroville Riverview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Warm Beach Camp, 20800 Marine Drive, Stanwood, WA 98292
