Donald Clayton
Erway
June 18, 1940 – December 17, 2022
With a heavy heart I regret to inform you that my loving husband, Donald Clayton Erway, 82 years old, passed away December 17, 2022 at 2:33 AM at the Washington Central Hospital ICU (Wenatchee, WA) after a valiant fight to recover from major open-heart surgery. Many thanks for all the prayers, thoughts, and encouragement on this journey to help Donald to recover so we could spend many more wonderful years together. Sadly, that was not in God's plan. God took Donald to be with Him to spare him from any more pain in this world.
I met the love of my life on a Panama Cruise in February 2015 and we got married August 5, 2017. We lived our lives on fast forward traveling many places and back and forth between Canada and the United States. We enjoyed our lives to the fullest, each catching up on lost time. However, in October 2022, it was discovered that Donald had a large 6.3 cm aortic aneurysm, a significant leaking heart valve, and atrial fibrillation of the heart.
Open-heart surgery was the best course of action and on December 15, 2022 surgery was performed. Donald was recovering well when about twelve hours after surgery his heart came to an abrupt stop and he had to be resuscitated. A second surgery was performed to do a bypass to support the heart with more blood to recover, but within 17 hours of that surgery his heart could not continue and he passed away peacefully in my arms.
Donald's last wishes were to be cremated and for his ashes to be with me as I continue to travel in his honor. Although he is in his heavenly home now, his journey on this earth is not yet done. Until we meet again, my sweet love, may you rest in peace.
Donald will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Glenda; his children Robin Erway Moore, Bert Erway and Troy Erway; his step-children Tiara (Jose) Rodriguez Nunez, Joel (Christina) Malina and Jonathan Malina; his older brother Ray (Betty) Erway; older sister Shirley Tower; and younger brother David (Pat) Erway; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donald is preceded in death by his parents Ethan and Mildred (Axtell) Erway; his older sister Lucille Buckner; older brother Gerald Erway; his son Eric Erway; and his daughter Kimberly Erway.
