Derek J. Rairdan, of Tonasket, Washington, passed away on May 1, 2026, at the age of 47.
He was born on March 16, 1979, in Tonasket to Bill and Connie Rairdan. As the oldest son, Derek shared a lifelong bond with his brothers, Travis and Adam. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Rairdan; his brother, Travis Rairdan; and his half-brother, Troy, who passed away at birth.
Derek followed in his father’s footsteps into the trucking industry, where he built a life through hard work and determination. He worked numerous jobs over the years, earning respect along the way, before taking the leap to purchase his own log truck and become an owner-operator—something he took great pride in.
Derek married Amber, and together they welcomed their daughter, Jessa, in 2009, one of the greatest joys of his life. Derek and Amber later divorced. He remained a proud and devoted father to Jessa, as well as stepdaughters, Makayla and Annaka.
Derek found a special kind of happiness when he met Kim. Their time together brought him joy, companionship, and a renewed sense of peace, and he cherished the connection they shared.
Derek also valued lifelong friendships. He shared a special bond with his friend Erik, whom he first met in elementary school. Their friendship endured throughout the years, and together they made many memories on hunting trips and time spent outdoors—moments Derek truly cherished.
Having grown up in Tonasket, Derek developed deep roots in his community and maintained strong connections throughout his life. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his loyalty to family and friends, and the quiet strength and dependability that defined him.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessa; stepdaughters, Makayla and Annaka; his mother, Connie Rairdan; his brother, Adam Rairdan with wife, Nicky, and their children, Chloie and Kyia; his half-sister, Lisa; Kim; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
A memorial service to honor Derek’s life will be held on Friday July 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM, at the Tonasket Eagles.
