David C. Bowie (AKA AHB) passed peacefully on September 11, 2026 in Danville, WA under the loving care of Ro and Jen Singer. Born November 11, 1943 in Bath, Maine to Vernon T Bowie Sr and Elizabeth F (Henderson) Bowie.

Dave to some, David to others and AHB to many. David, though born in Maine lived his entire life in Kitsap County, graduating from West High in 1962. After graduating he served in the US Army from 1963 to 1969. In 1974 Dave went to work as a Sheetmetal Mechanic at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, earning many accolades, where he worked until his retirement in 1997 after being diagnosed with 'terminal cancer' and given less than 6 months to live.

After retirement and recovery Dave worked several years at Madrona Links

Golf Course. Then in 2009 Dave found his calling, donating thousands of hours to the Housing Kitsap Self-help Building Program before failing health forced his last retirement in 2023, having assisted in the building of 100's of homes throughout Kitsap County.

Throughout his life Dave was an avid fisherman and hunter. Making his annual pilgrimage each October to 'the rock' in Danville, WA in search of bambi.

David always had an intense passion for girls fastpitch softball. Coaching at youth levels in South Kitsap for many years. Later volunteering as a coach at Olympic College and Pacific Lutheran University.

David had many other talents, bowling a 300 game in 1995, an exceptional billiards player and above all else a giving person.

David was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Elizabeth (Henderson) Bowie, sisters Linda (Jack) Jordan and Lois (Jim) Brown. He is survived by his brother Vern (Karen) Bowie, step-daughters Sherri (Dean) Church, Karyn Kuberski, Michele (Bob) Hill. Also, 5 grandchildren, 8.5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. With a special spot in his heart for nieces Kayla and Ollie.

Other special people in Dave's life were his life long friends Ed 'Barney' Barnes and Raymond Young, his hunting and fishing partners, David's 'second' family the Singers. Ro, Jen (Dave's Angel), Caleb, Bradley and Macy.

David was an extraordinary man, he defied the odds and will be greatly missed by all those mentioned and so many more.

A Celebration of Life is planned for a future date in Port Orchard, WA.
