Brian William Bassett, age 59, of Loomis, Washington died April 1, 2013 in Loomis.  He was born March 18, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to Eileen M. and William R. Bassett.  After high school he attended the University of Detroit-Mercy, majoring in criminology.  Later his career path in the Merchant Marines took him all over the world.  His most recent employment as a Merchant Marine, Second Mate was on Horizon Lines, specifically the Horizon Kodiak and Horizon Tacoma vessels.  While underway, he was responsible for the safe operation of the vessel and 20 other shipmates.  He was well liked and respected by crew members.  Brian was passionate about motorcycles and enjoyed life to the fullest.
