Beryl Donovan Cleven, 79, of North Bend and Tonasket, WA died on January 14, 2017 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, WA. He was born January 5, 1938 in North Bend, WA to parents George Alva Cleven, Kathryn Wilma Cleven (Lingscheit).
Beryl Cleven was born and raised in North Bend, WA, where he graduated from Mount Si High School. He was a member of the high school band, playing the French Horn, the tuba, and other wind instruments. As a young man, Beryl served with the United States Army in the Alaska Communications System. Later in life, Beryl worked for the U.S. Forest Service and Weyerhaeuser. In retirement, he lived in Ellensburg, Cle Elum, Omak, and for about the last 10 years of his life, in Tonasket. In life, Beryl was quite a tinkerer and was able to build or fix just about anything. Even as a very young boy he demonstrated a keen mechanical aptitude, being enthralled with a nearby neighbor's wood shop and tools. In that neighbor's shop he began to develop a knowledge of, and a life-long passion for woodworking. Beryl leaves many friends and family members, all of whom will miss him.
Beryl is survived by his sister Carol Landaas and his brother George Curtis Cleven
He was preceded in death by George Alva Cleven (father), Kathryn Wilma Cleven (mother), Lois Crawford-Politz (sister), Russell Politz (brother in-law), Robert Landaas (brother in –law), Stephanie Landaas-Boone (niece)
